GRoovy Reflections Radio: in memory of Pete Frecchio.
For his entire life, Pete’s blood had rock ‘n roll flowing through it! The Beatles had the strongest flow in a cast of musical characters that included numerous classic rock bands as well as Elvis.
His love of music was so strong that he not only pursued it as a hobby but in his career as well. The passion started at the tender age of eight when Pete received a Mickey Mouse record player and a bunch of his sister’s 45’s on his birthday. Pete went on to enjoy a long, wonderful career in radio. While Pete was a vinyl junkie he was also a big fan of many classic TV shows including Jeopardy, All in the Family, Andy Griffith, M*A*S*H, WKRP in Cincinnati (no surprise there), Frasier and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Pete became a member of the Groovy Reflections Team on August 17, 2011. The team members had noticed his comments on numerous posts and felt he would be a wonderful addition to the team, which turned out to be 100% true! Groovy Reflections Radio is dedicated to the memory of Pete. Pete will always be a member of our team and we all continue to be inspired by him. Here are thoughts from Groovy Reflections Team Members past and present: |

Pete, was joyful, fun, positive, and upbeat. Always. I got to know him when he became a member of the Groovy Reflections team. You could feel his enthusiasm and love of life oozing through the internet. He loved to post about his beloved dog, politics, and music, and every post he made was supercharged with passion.
I use exclamations quite often nowadays because Pete did! While I never met him in person, we did speak on the phone a couple times. I wish we had spoken more. He never complained; he was always upbeat. Wish more people were like that. Pete, I know you are looking over us and influencing all of us to look at the bright side of life. I am inspired by you every day and grateful that you graced my life with your presence. Gerry, GR Founder and Team Member |
Pete told me that this was his favorite Beatles song. I will always think of him whenever I hear it.

It really wasn't all that long ago that if someone said “I never met him”, it was highly unlikely that would be followed by “but he was a friend of mine”. The internet has made those two statements possible and in the case of Pete Frecchio, I for one, am the richer for it.
I met Pete through Groovy Reflections, where I learned much about him. I learned we had very little in common politically but I also learned what a passionate, giving, caring, and enthusiastic soul he was. Our mutual love for the great music and culture of our days gone by drew us closer and allowed us to overcome those political differences. We shared a passion for the music and the spirit of peace and love of that generation and time. I wish that Pete could have seen what Groovy Reflections Radio has become and how it continues to grow. He deeply wanted to be a part of it and he is. His spirit lives on in every song we play. For all that we were different we were also similar and I am saddened by his passing but I am proud to say “No I never met Pete but I knew him, and Pete Frecchio, he was a friend of mine”. When I got the sad news about Pete's passing, I reacted with a word I'm trying to expunge from my vocabulary. I was well aware of Pete's health concerns and his trips to the hospital, but it was still a shock. He was a very young man.
Before Gerry added me to the GR team, I had become an avid poster on the Facebook page. I felt at home there and I loved the theme. Before I knew it I was swamped with friend requests not only from other posters, but team members too, like Pete. I had noticed we were poles apart on a lot of political issues, so we just never brought those things up. Rock was our common ground, especially where the Beatles were concerned. His tag line was "10-4, Good Buddy." For the rest of my life when I hear that phrase, I will not be thinking of C.W. McCall, I'll be thinking of Pete Frecchio. Guy, GR Team Member |

I met Pete as I was "getting my feet wet" as a new member of the GR team in the summer of 2011. He was what I considered a "Super-Fan"....he made a lot of comments on our posts and posted some really neat stuff himself. I thought he would be a good fit for our team, and so did GR founder Gerry. I was really happy when he came on board, and even happier that we shared a love of John Lennon, The Beatles, and Jonathan Frid as Dark Shadows vampire Barnabas Collins.
Pete and I "spoke" nearly every day for a year and a half, thru Facebook chat. I never got to meet him in person but I still considered him a good friend. We had much in common and major rooting differences when it came to sports. He introduced me to Upper Peninsula (Michigan) cuisine. I tried pasties for the first time around Christmas last year. Pete was right!! They were great. From now on every Yuletide Season I am going to have pasties delivered from the U.P. and toast Pete as I enjoy them. I miss him on his birthday and every other day of the year. I miss how he called me Broadway Joe. I hope he is hanging out with John & George by day and haunting Collinwood with Barnabas by night.
